International Women Day

Ignore all recorded statistics about women economic development and empowerment. The evident fact is that women are half of the total population, their contribution to the economy is unrecognized in most cases. They are underrepresented in many economic sectors. These discouraging figures turn momentarily pale when it is seen that, among women, a good number are successful and have scaled to the peak where many men find it hard to reach. They are mentors for hundreds of thousands of women particularly in business having the qualities like hard work, devotion, sincerity, professionalism, significant managerial capacity.

Dr. Senta Siller is a name that is associated with the country’s economic growth since the inception of Thatta Kedona in Thatta Ghulamka Dheroka some one and half decade ago. With her right skills and motivation, she was able to give each woman in Thatta Ghulamka Dheroka – a small village in the backwaters of Punjab, a strong foundation for working hard and helping own sleves.

On the eve of International Women Day, Dr. Senta Siller in her message to the “Fifty percent of the population that is female says, “You have the power to participate in all fields of your interest. Don not hesitate to take any chance, which is offered to you in order to improve your living condition. Remember, It is no sahame to to work hard for our wishes, to be successful, to become famous. Always follow the advice of Quaid-e-Azam and act upon your own divine inner voice.

Prof Dr Norbert Pintsch, while paying tribute to Dr. Senta Siller said, “I know now this excellent and extraordinary human (Dr. Senta Siller) more than fifty years. In the Beginning of this unusual thing (Thatta Kedona), we call this now a project, I must say, I understood nothing, nothing, but now it is a philosophy, a technology, a special way for a help in rural areas. It will cost time for the normal working people to understand the chances and opportunities in development of land and human, to use traditional resources as a new beginning.

Save Energy

Saving Energy is a very noble cause. It not only saves your energy bills also conserve resource and protects environment. What is happening to environment has made saving energy as one of the most valid fields of human activities.

“Switch off the lights and fans when you leave the room,” is one of the early lessons I remember. My primary school teacher had told us to do so to conserve the school bill. Now I have grown up, live in my own home and still remember what he told. I have made it a habit to switch off light not being used, to switch off the geyser and gas heaters when not required, and keep the thermostats of all appliances at home to the minimum. And this habit pays me; my energy bills are less and I have a satisfaction of contributing in environmental protection in my own capacity.

Given my interest in saving energy and environmental conservation, I liked meaningful blog titled Energy Saving - Reduce Reuse Recycle . I appreciate the efforts of the blogger. Small things do make big differences. I particularly liked his concise post Energy Saving Tips.

I have already book marked the blog for my regular read. I suggest every one read the blog and learn what can be done to save energy.

Pakistani NGO at the Global Village

A possibility for the participation of a Pakistani NGO at the Global Village of the Dubai Shopping Festival for exhibiting and offering its outstanding handicrafts products emerged in 2000 on the invitation of the consulate general of Pakistan in Dubai.

The first participation in the fair followed in 2001 and was quite successful right from the start, -reports of the local media also confirmed the success of advertising and media attention.

The stand in the Pakistan Pavillion through the courtesy of the pakistani commercial counsellor however required careful organization, transport, resolution of visa matters and schooling of the the village NGO staff as well as locating cheap accomodation in Dubai.

Two young women as well young men from the village NGO have participated in the festival uptill now. A german volunteer was also found as a temporary arrangement to bridge the staff requirement at the stand. Additionally, we also succeeded in winning a permanent customer for the products at this temporary forum so that it became possible to sell the products over the whole year.

An arabic pair of dolls was specially developed by the pakistani NGO for the arabian market, which can be purchased on the spot as well as orders cab also be placed. Local volunteers are also helpful in the order processing and they have also participated in village project in Pakistan.
