Thatta Kedona at Neelibar Cultural Show in Lahore

The Information and Culture Department held a number of cultural shows recently at the Open Air Theatre in Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore to exhibit the arts and culture of different regions of Pakistan’s most populous province Punjab.

On 24th of February Sahiwal Division celebrated its culture at the “Neelibar Cultural Show”. Many artists, groups and organisations represented Sahiwal Division at this show, including “Thatta Kedona”, the handicrafts project initiated in 1993 in the village Thatta Ghulamka Dhiroka in district Okara by the German Designer Dr. Senta Siller and her husband Dr. Norbert Pintsch.

Beautiful ethnic dolls created by the “Thatta Kedona” girls were not only exhibited at a stall near the stage but also displayed at the huge stage of the Open Air Theatre, where live music and local dances of Neelibar region were presented by a number of artists. This day long cultural event was visited by hundreds of people.

Sahiwal Division is one of the nine divisions of the Punjab province. Okara was a Tehsil of Sahiwal Division until 1982 before becoming one of the three districts of Sahiwal Division.
